Mito (Kairakuen Garden)

Posted on 3/24/2008 by Myriam Moret

Today is Mickey Mouse Day as I will be heading to Tokyo Disney in a few hours. Ahhhh! Insomnia, we've been friends for so long, maybe you could give me a rest sometimes (and there was actually no pun intended)

Finaly here are some pics from a day trip to Mito on march 9th, which is actually way far, like 2 hours by train from Tokyo. I thought it was a lot closer mostly due to the fact that it is listed in the "Tokyo Area" list of things to see. I uess we all have a different view of "area" and they say it's 65min by train... if your're lucky enough to cather the RAPID service.

Kairakuen Garden is ranked among Japan's 3 finest landscape gardens and was built in 1841 by lord Tokugawa Nariaki. During Ume Blossom season in February and March, the 3000 apricot and plum trees are covered with small flowers in shades from white to bright pink. It was a very nice day and the walk from the station is on a strech of land in the middle of a river where hundreds of ducks, swans and other marine birds gather. Very beautiful! We stopped there and ate our packed sandwiches. On the way back I snapped some awesome pics of the purple sunset sky over the river.

Come back the day after tomorrow for M's adventures at Fujisan...

Ahhhh!  Insomnie, ça fais longtemps qu'on est amies, tu pourais p-e me laisser dormir des fois. :p

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I'll try to get the hang of it! website (Edmund)

Woah! I'm really enjoying the template/theme of this site. It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's difficult to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you have done a fantastic job with this. Also, the blog loads very quick for me on Opera. Superb Blog! Fussball Trikots Kinder
