Fujisan and the tragic rollercoasters. / Fujisan et les tragiques montagnes russes.

Posted on 3/26/2008 by Myriam Moret

This could almost be a Harry Potter book title... you know if Fujisan was a boy wizard instead of a volcano and had to physically fight the amusement park competing for attention right next to it. But I'm confident that in the long run, the tragic rollercoasters will become a rusting ugly structure or will be taken down by men in gray jumpsuits while Fujisan looks smugly over the scene and thinks (Yes, in my world volcanoes can think) Ha! Ha! I've won MoFo!

It was only for a night but I managed to get a room at the best hotel with Mt. Fuji right in front of it. Since I do not make millions and we were on a budget, we however had a view of the amusement park, which although quite an eyesore during day time offers a nice display of lights at night.

Mt. Fuji is an elusive mountain and it is not as easy as you would think to get a clear view of it. It has to be the right day and the right time of day. It is usually hidden behind a curtain of clouds and is best seen either a sunset and at sundown. We settled in, went to the Fuji Museum and afterwards for a swim and had dinner and drinks. Sun sets quite early and Japan and I was long overdue for a good night sleep in a real bed so Fujisan would have to wait until the morning. We were up at the crack of dawn to watch the sun rise on a clear day and Mt. Fuji with Earth's spotlight lighting it. It was a beautiful sight and the sky still showed no signs of cloud when we left. After breakfast, I went to the pool again and made a little movie for your enjoyment that Youtube keeps on rejecting (I'm working on that and I HATE them!) Comments are in french only... 'cause I can't yet manage to swim, film and do billingual comments.

I was a little sad to leave Fujisan, like a great first date, it had lived up to my expectations and now it was parting time. Sayonara Fujisan, I'll be thinking of you...

Sayonara Fujisan! Je penserai à toi...

Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you're working with? I'm looking to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique. P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask! blog (Efrain)

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone! maglia Roma bambini
